Volunteer at vaccination station injured in Ma On Shan crash

A tour coach crashed into the gate of Ma On Shan Sports Ground which is being used as a mobile vaccination center, injuring a woman who served as volunteer there.

The accident occurred at about 9am Thursday, when citizens gathered to receive the Covid-19 vaccine.

The 41-year-old woman was a volunteer in charge of vehicle access at the parking lot.

She was helping to open the gate when the tour coach arrived. The coach suddenly made a turn to avoid hitting a passer-by, but lost control and crashed into the gate.

The volunteer suffered injuries on her head and body, and was rushed to Prince of Wales Hospital in Sha Tin while unconscious.

The 49-year-old driver of the tour bus was arrested for dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm. The tour bus was also taken for investigation.
