Ninety-year-old veteran actor-singer Bowie Woo Fung had no choice but to cancel his concert scheduled at the Hong Kong Coliseum this Saturday (Sep 10) after announcing on Tuesday that he was infected with Covid-19.
Arrangements on refunding the tickets will be announced tomorrow (Wed). It remains unclear when the concert will be staged again.
“Hi everyone! I am sorry that I have been infected (with Covid). Therefore, I cannot see everyone at the Hong Kong Coliseum concert on Mid-Autumn Festival.
“Yet, rest assured. I have received the booster jab, and can you see how energetic I am now! I am undergoing quarantine at my home, and I hope to see your face at the stage very soon. Stay healthy, everyone!” Woo said in a recorded video message to his fans.
Woo also managed to project his voice loud and clear when speaking to Sing Tao Daily, The Standard’s sister publication. He added he has been moving around his home as he slept for long hours after his PCR test result confirmed his Covid infection on Monday night.
He noted he developed coughing as well.
When asked if he caught Covid because of frequent physical contact during the rehearsal, Woo said: “I don’t really know where I catch this virus. I was wearing a mask even during the rehearsal.”
As for reports that his godson Jacky Cheung Hok-yau would show up at the concert as a special guest, Woo jokingly asked, “How did you know that?
“Apart from Jacky, Nick Cheung Ka-fai, Joyce Cheng Yan-yee, Nancy Sit Ka-yin, and Helena Law Lan are also coming.
“I feel extremely uncomfortable and anxious having to postpone this concert. I hope fans can keep their tickets, and I will see everyone at the Hong Kong Coliseum very soon,” Woo said.
He continued that Jacky had called him already and reminded him to have some good rest. Jacky also promised to sing at Woo’s concert again after recovery.
