Hong Kong’s health chief said the city’s “vaccine bubble” plan for the easing of Covid rules can still go ahead amid the detection of the city’s first mutated Covid case.
The government earlier announced a series of eased Covid rules under the “vaccine bubble” arrangement, including allowing more customers at restaurants if both patrons and staff received the jab.
Health officials said the “vaccine bubble” plan, which was implemented yesterday, will first focus on educating the public and allowing operators of different premises to get used to the new concept.
“Operators of those premises running under the eased Covid rules can explain to customers about the new plan, while authorities will also maintain communication with different sectors to make slight changes according to the actual implementation of the bubble plan,” said Sophia Chan Siu-chee, health secretary of Hong Kong.
She also urged members of the public to get vaccinated as soon as possible, especially when the city had detected its first locally acquired mutated coronavirus case.
