Vaccination requirement updated for teens aged 12 to 17

Youngsters aged 12 to 17 who have received one dose of BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine at least 14 days ago will be deemed as having completed the vaccinated course starting Thursday.

Government made the announcement last night, saying the decision came after considering the advice made by the Advisory Panel on Covid-19 Vaccines.

In general, completing the vaccination course involves having received two doses of Sinovac vaccine or BioNTech vaccine at least 14 days ago.

The requirement for youngsters aged 12 to 17 would however be changed starting Thursday (Sept 30). They will be viewed as having completed the vaccination course if they have received one dose of BioNTech vaccine at least 14 days ago.

According to law, certain persons including staff of Type D restaurants and customers of cruise ships aged 16 or above, must have completed the Covid-19 vaccination course before working at or entering relevant premises.
