Triple-vax requirement for HKUST in-person lectures starting September

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology said on Thursday that they have targeted to deliver in-person lectures on campus from September for the Fall semester of 2022-23.

The university statement noted that all courses, including undergraduate and research postgraduate levels, will be offered in regular face-to-face mode starting from September 1, 2022, while proctored examinations, if needed, will be held on campus.

However, according to the university, some classes will be delivered in mixed mode - accommodating both in-class and online students.

With global travel gradually resuming, it said all members of the university should therefore plan to be in Hong Kong well in time for the Fall Term as far as possible.

“Please note that the Hong Kong government imposes quarantine, Covid-19 vaccination, and testing requirements for inbound travelers based on different countries/regions. The

University will not be able to provide any quarantine support on campus,” the statement wrote.

Meanwhile, under the government’s “vaccine pass” requirement, Hong Kong citizens must have received 3 doses of the Covid vaccine by May 31, 2022, to enter the university campus.

The university said it will soon update its Vaccination and Testing Reporting System to include the input of the 3rd vaccine dose.
