South Korea mandates Covid tests for HK travelers

Mandatory Covid-19 tests will be required for Hong Kong travelers flying into South Korea, the country’s health authorities said on Tuesday.

Effective January 7, travelers from Hong Kong would be required to submit a negative PCR test result, according to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency. The requirement also applies to travelers from Macau.

The decision comes after South Korea announced it will require travelers from China to take Covid tests before departure and upon arrival in South Korea, joining the United States, Japan and other countries in taking new border measures amid concerns over a new wave of infections and mutations since Beijing's decision to lift stringent zero-Covid policies.
