Some 100 private estate residents jabbed by outreach team for the first time

Outreach vaccination teams administered Covid-19 jabs to 100 residents in Ma On Shan today, the first time such services were made available at a private estate, Secretary for Civil Service Patrick Nip Tak-kuen said.

Nip posted on social media today that the estate’s private property management company took the lead with the full support of the owners' corporation to gather residents who were interested in participating in the outreach vaccination service.

At the outreach service today, Nip showed up to cheer the residents accompanied by the estate’s developer Henderson Land Development executive director Suen Kwok-lam.

He cited residents saying the two vaccination centers in Sha Tin -- CUHK Medical Centre for BioNTech and Yuen Wo Road Sports Centre for Sinovac -- are not as convenient as having an outreach team administering the jabs right downstairs of their homes.

Nip thanked the housing estate for their cooperation in allowing the outreach team to enter the private housing estate for the first time, providing the residents with convenient vaccination services.

He said that there are nine more housing estates for the outreach team to operate on-site vaccination, citing Henderson Land Development.

In a separate outreach event, 140 people received Sinovac jabs at the Central Library in Causeway Bay and BioNTech shots at the Sai Wan Ho Sports Centre today, after a health seminar at the library.

So far, 66 percent of the SAR’s 6.84 million population aged 12 or above have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, and about 4.1 million have completed the vaccine program.

"More than 90 percent of the civil service, Hospital Authority staff and school staff have received at least one dose, while 80 percent of the staff of elderly or residential care homes for persons with disabilities have received at least one dose," Nip said.
