Second COVID-19 Death Is 32-Year-Old Male

The second death associated with COVID-19 in the British Virgin Islands is a 32-year old man.

This is according to information released from the Ministry of Health and Social Development via a press release issued yesterday, July 8.

The release said the young man had “underlying medical conditions” and “At the time of his death the deceased was an ICU patient at the Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital.”

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of this young man and express our sincere sympathy to the family,” Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ronald Georges said on the matter.

He added: “This death not only affects loved ones but impacts the community.”

The young man’s death came when the territory saw an uptick in cases, with a record 821 active, positive cases.

The first COVID-19 related death was a Filipino in 2020.
