Public hospital services hope to resume after Lunar New Year: Hospital Authority chairman

The Hospital Authority chairman, Henry Fan Hung-ling, said today the services of public hospitals would resume gradually after the relaxation of social distancing measures on Friday.

He added that the North Lantau Hospital Hong Kong Infection Control Centre will open on February 26. It will mainly accept mild or moderate COVID-19 patients aged between 16 and 65 with appropriate clinical conditions.

The control center is equipped with around 800 beds, 48 of which will be in use as the center opens. It can also handle around 1,500 Covid-19 samples, Fan wrote.

Fan said the newly established control center will help mitigate the pressure of public hospitals, allowing them to allocate more resources to non-Covid-19 patients.
