More than 60% of the netizens, who participated in two surveys on social media, fear of getting COVID-19 in Panama, now with the 'new normal' that was launched by the National Government.
"Have you been afraid or insecure to leave the house for fear of the COVID-19 infection?" was the question that was posted on Facebook (for 24 hours) and Twitter (for 12 hours), which arose from the gradual reopening of the economy on May 13, in which e-commerce, workshops mechanics, technical services, fishing and industrial aquaculture began to operate.
The survey conducted by Panama America, received 670 votes on Facebook on Wednesday, of which 77% of the respondent are afraid of getting the virus.
While on Twitter the fear or insecurity of being infected by the new coronavirus was 62.4%, of the total 804 votes.
Both on Facebook and Twitter, the comments of the majority of people who fear becoming infected coincide with the breach of physical distancing and the misuse of masks, which are two of the recommended preventive measures against COVID-19.
"It scares me because people don't take the recommended measures and you don't know who may be infected", said Iveth Lorena Pérez on Facebook.
Roxana Troestch also commented on Facebook that it is scary to get it, because "the virus is still active".
"If you get infected you have to isolate yourself, without contact with your family, by people who are irresponsible and do not follow directions, they do not care, the Panamanians are like that, they mess it up for everyone, because I am not family, they are islands and in this world everyone needs to work together, from the taxi, bus, train, store, super or work, etc., wherever we are, it is a chain that ultimately drags out to everyone who in one way or another has to go out to earn their daily bread. You have to put yourself in the shoes of each person", said Roxana Troestch.
Meanwhile, Axel Miranda criticized on Twitter people who misuse the mask: "It is not so much those who walk without a mask, but how they wear it, on the head, on the neck, hanging on one ear, they touch it everywhere, they put it on a desk, table and put it on again. [There will be] more contagion than walking without it [...]".
It should be noted that the health authorities began on Monday May 18 to relax other quarantine measures to return to the 'new normal' of citizens, such as exercising individually outdoors, as long as they maintain the use of masks and physical distancing.
Panamanians will have only one kilometer of perimeter from their homes for said activity, the corresponding day according to the time and the numbering of their ID.
According to the epidemiological report of Tuesday, May 19, Panama registers 281 deaths from COVID-19 and 9,867 infections ,
