Panama reports 1,263 new cases of COVID-19 and accumulates 80,665 infections

Panama registered 1,263 new cases of COVID-19 and 12 new deaths in the last 24 hours, reported the Ministry of Health (Minsa).

With these figures, the country accumulates a total of 80,665 cases and 1,746 deaths from this virus for a fatality rate of 2.2%.

4,134 new tests were performed to detect COVID-19 for 30% positivity. In total, 268,180 tests have been carried out, of which 185,277 have been negative.

There are a total of 25,062 active cases and 971 new recovered patients for a total of 53,857.

According to the epidemiological report by Minsa, of the active patients 22,805 are at home and 600 in hotels, while 1,657 are hospitalized (1,501 in ward and 156 in intensive care).

Patients aged between 20 to 39 years and 40 and 59 years are the most affected by this virus according to age group, with 33,981 and 25,029 cases respectively. The highest fatality occurs in those over 60 years of age.

Among the townships in which new cases were reported are: Chepo (39), Ernesto Córdoba Campos (38), December 24 (37), Belisario Frías (36), Pedregal in Chiriquí (35), Alcalde Díaz (34), Amelia Denis de Icaza (33), Chilibre (31), Herrera (30), Caimitillo (28), Arraiján (27), Las Mañanitas (27), Belisario Porras (24), El Coco (23), and Pedregal (22 ).
