One day off per Covid-19 jab for civil servants: sources

Civil servants will be entitled to two days of paid leave for their Covid-19 vaccination, sources said, as the government is expected to make the announcement this week the earliest.

This came after Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor last Tuesday previewed the “vaccine holiday” arrangement.

Sources said the Civil Service Bureau will allow 177,000 civil servants to take one day off for each Covid-19 jab.

As both vaccine brands the SAR offers – the Beijing-made Sinovac and German-made BioNTech/Fosun – require two doses 28 and 21 days apart, it would mean each government employee will be entitled to two days of leave.

Sources said those who have completed vaccination will also be entitled to two days of compensation leave.
