The government lifted the lockdown in Lam Tin Friday morning, and no one among some 1,100 residents at On Kin House of On Tin Estate was found infected with Covid-19.

Yesterday Hong Kong reported a 28-year-old female resident who returned from the United States tested preliminary positive for Covid-19.

The woman departed for the United States on November 20. When she returned to Hong Kong on Wednesday, she tested preliminary positive upon arrival at the airport.

The woman, fully vaccinated with the German-made BioNTech/Fosun vaccine, tested positive for the L452R mutant strain likely to be the Delta variant with a moderate viral count.

Since she had stayed in Hong Kong during her incubation period before her departure, authorities at 7pm Thursday cordoned off On Kin House where she stayed to test all residents.

The lockdown was lifted at around 7am this morning. Around 1,100 residents there underwent compulsory testing as of 1am today and none tested positive for the virus.

Authorities mobilized staffers to visit around 360 households to collect specimens, of which around six of them didn't answer. The government urged them to contact health officials as soon as possible.
