Minsa strengthens search and surveillance strategy for contacts of people with COVID-19

Israel Cedeño, director of the Metropolitan Health Region, said that the search and surveillance strategy for contacts of positive people with COVID-19 has been strengthened house by house.

This traceability work, Cedeño explained, is being carried out specifically in 10 townships with the highest contagion index in the Metropolitan region.

The main job is to look for the cases, confirm and isolate them, but that is only part of the job. An important part is also to find and isolate all those contacts from those people who have tested positive, because that is where the risk is that they will keep spreading the disease, said Cedeño.

Currently, detailed, Tocumen, December 24, Juan Díaz, Don Bosco, Pedregal, Calidonia, are the townships that keep more cases accumulated, and where more tests are applied house by house.

But, he recalled that the sampling is being carried out in 19 health centers in the Metropolitan region.

Epidemics are very dynamic and we cannot let our guard down, we have to be on the lookout every day because today you may report a case, and the next day if you do not follow the recommendations of the Ministry of Health, you will probably report 100 cases in one day, he said. .

Cedeño announced that they are working on an application that allows citizens to have access to information on the areas where the greatest number of positive cases are concentrated and thus avoid these places.
