Residential buildings in Mid-levels and Tai Wai are among locations slapped with mandatory testing notices as Hong Kong reported eight new confirmed Covid-19 cases today.
The Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health announced the eight new cases today. They arrived from Kyrgyzstan, the Philippines, the United Kingdom, and the United States. All of them received both doses of the Sinovac or BioNTech vaccines.
Two people who traveled to Kyrgyzstan on August 20 tested positive for L452R mutant strain upon arrival in Hong Kong on September 3. Places they visited during the incubation period were included in compulsory testing notices.
The two cases were a 60-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman who live in Valiant Park, Conduit Road, Mid-levels and Block 6, Peak One, Tai Wai respectively.
They tested negative in Hong Kong on the day of departure and returned on September 3 by flight CX654. The two were confirmed with the L452R variant at the airport. Both of them have been asymptomatic and received two doses of the BioNTech vaccine.
The man mainly worked from home during the incubation period, while the woman worked at Flat 1, 2/F, Casey Building, Sheung Wan.
The buildings where they resided or worked and the places they had visited during the incubation period are included in compulsory testing notices. Tests should be completed on or before tomorrow.
