Meduca launches virtual platform ESTER for the restart of classes on July 20

The Ministry of Education (Meduca) presented this Monday, June 22, the virtual platform ESTER that will serve to restart classes in public schools on July 20.

President Laurentino Cortizo, together with the Minister of Education, Maruja Gorday de Villalobos, were in charge of announcing this platform, which is part of the national strategy for multimodal education.

'ESTER' will be ready in the first phase on July 20, the date for returning to distance classes, said Cortizo, who explained that this site is "100% local adapted to the national curriculum.

The first phase of the 'ESTER' platform will equip students and teachers on average, with special attention to the 32,476 graduates from 230 schools and will allow the same quality of learning for students in urban and rural areas of the country, he added.

The virtual platform, developed by the Government Innovation Authority (AIG), can be accessed online or without an Internet connection, so students will use it from anywhere.

In addition, it will have incorporated a digital library of more than 10,000 titles from different areas of knowledge, Cortizo explained.

The National Strategy for Multimodal Education in its first phase will cost 30 million balboas, which includes the platform, content development and equipment for twelfth-grade students, said Meduca.

Classes in the country were suspended last March 11, due to the Covid-19 virus pandemic.
