A woman aged about 50 was found dead in a Tsim Sha Tsui hotel on Thursday afternoon. It was understood that she was a mainland care worker hired by the Social Welfare Department.
Police received a report from staffers of B P International in Tsim Sha Tsui at 1.24pm on Thursday, saying a woman aged about 50 passed out in her room. Medics rushed to the hotel only to pronounce the woman dead at the scene.
Police have listed the case as a dead body found and are still confirming the woman's identity.
The woman's body has been sent to Kowloon Public Mortuary and her actual cause of death has yet to be confirmed.
It was understood that the woman came from Guangxi and was among the 1,000 temporary care workers hired by the Social Welfare Department to aid the city's fight against the fifth wave of the pandemic outbreak.
Sources said the woman had received the booster jab and had been staying in B P International since March 7. She was posted to Choi Wing Road Sports Centre in Kwun Tong and was responsible for taking care of elderly infected with
Covid-19 with mild symptoms.
Sources added that the woman was required to take a daily rapid antigen test and she tested negative on Wednesday.
According to the hotel's website, B P International is not a designated quarantine hotel and does not serve any guest subjected to compulsory quarantine, self-monitoring or the StayHomeSafe scheme.
