Latam Airlines will stop operating in Argentina

Latam Airlines Argentina announced that the company will stop operating in the country after 15 years of operations, citing local industry conditions and the coronavirus pandemic.

Commercial and cargo flights will cease for an “undetermined period” as the company submits a crisis prevention plan to the Ministry of Labor for mediation in labor matters. Latam Airlines Argentina will stop operating to and from 12 national destinations such as Buenos Aires, Bariloche, Mendoza and El Calafate, while its international flights continue through other Latam subsidiaries.

The move comes in the worst year for the airline industry. Latam Airlines Group SA, the largest airline in Latin America and parent of Latam Airlines Argentina, filed for bankruptcy protection in New York after the covid-19 pandemic caused the cancellation of flights throughout the region.
