If the health system collapses in the capital, patients will be transferred to other provinces

The coordinator of nosocomial infections of the Social Security Fund (CSS), Gladys Guerrero, explained that daily monitoring of hospital capacity is done at the national level, and as part of the health strategy, the transfer of patients is contemplated to other hospitals in the country in case there are no beds in the capital city.

She explained that until July 1, in the Social Security Fund there were 18 beds available between intensive and semi-intensive care.

Of the beds in the ICU there are spaces that are occupied by patients who do not have COVID-19 ... but if the cases in the community increase, the number of beds that we will require will also increase, and although every day spaces are revalued and reinvented, the human resource will have to be cloned, they are exhausted, but they are still there, said Guerrero.

She indicated that the majority of cases in the ICU are of vulnerable people, we have not arrived and we do not want to reach the selection of which patient is saved and which is not, and affirmed that care will be given regardless of whether the patient is insured or not.

She added that doing more tests helps a lot, since that way more cases are determined, contacts are quarantined, and traceability is found.

She asked everyone to 'stop challenging the virus'.
