Hongkongers vaccinated in India, Malaysia, Pakistan and Thailand can return home

Hongkongers who are vaccinated in India, Malaysia, Pakistan and Thailand will be able to return home starting Wednesday.

The government announced today that it has concluded discussions with the governments of the four countries to recognize their vaccination records. From 0.00am on September 8, Hong Kong residents who hold vaccination records issued by official institutions can board a flight for Hong Kong.

The four countries fall into “Group A” countries, where the risk of Covid-19 infection is high. Under current border control measures, only Hong Kongers with recognized vaccination records can return from those countries to the SAR.

An agreement has also been reached with South Korea to recognize its vaccination records, which will also take effect at 0.00am on September 8.
