Hong Kong sees two imported cases from Maldives and the Philippines

Hong Kong on Friday saw two imported cases from Maldives and the Philippines and no untraceable local infections.

The city's tally currently stands at 12,314.

The two cases involved two women, aged 31 and 43, from Maldives and the Philippines respectively. The woman from Maldives developed symptoms of Covid on October 19.

Both of them were found carrying the L452R mutant strain of the coronavirus.

The Centre for Health Protection said the 31-year-old received both doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine in Maldives, while the other received both doses of the Sinovac vaccine in the Philippines.

Over the past fortnight, the SAR reported 60 cases, including one local case with an unknown source and 59 imported cases.
