HK women epee team snatch silver at Asian Championship

Hong Kong’s women epee team, led by top fencer Vivian Kong Man-wai, bagged a silver medal in the Asian Fencing Championship in Seoul on Monday.

Third-seeded Hong Kong team, consisting of Kong, Chan Wai-ling, Chu Ka-mong and Coco Kin Yik-hei, eased past team Singapore 45-33 in the quarterfinals, and won 40-30 over team China in the semifinals to enter the final.

But they were defeated by team Korea and snatched silver.

Another medal hope, Hong Kong’s men foil team, led by World No 1 Edgar Cheung Ka-long, will make an appearance on Wednesday in the team event of the same tournament.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong’s badminton team in Indonesia had some bad news, Tse Ying-suet tested positive of Covid-19 and had to withdraw from the mixed double event of the Indonesia Open 2022 with her partner Jordan Tang Chun-man.
