HK to recognize Iran, Chile and New Zealand jab records from Wed

Starting Wednesday, Hong Kongers who are vaccinated in Iran will be able to return to Hong Kong.

Authorities will also recognize vaccination records issued by Chile and New Zealand, allowing Hongkongers vaccinated in the two countries to return from a list of high risk areas, a.k.a. “Group A countries.”

Iran falls into Group A, while Chile and New Zealand are not on the high risk list.

The current list of group A countries include Bangladesh, Brazil, Cambodia, France, Greece, India, Indonesia, Iran, Ireland, Malaysia, Nepal, the Netherlands, Pakistan, the Philippines, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Tanzania, Thailand, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.

In addition, the government has announced earlier it accepts vaccination records recognized by the EU Digital Covid Certificate mechanism, which now covers vaccination records issued by Albania, Andorra, Faroe Islands, Israel, Monaco, Morocco and Panama.

The updated list of places where vaccination records are recognized by Hong Kong can be found here.
