HK probes man who suffered a stroke after receiving COVID-19 vaccine

The Department of Health said on Wednesday that an expert panel will probe into the case where a man had suffered from hemorrhagic stroke, six days after he received the Sinovac coronavirus vaccine.

The 74-year-old man was inoculated with the COVID-19 vaccine on March 1 and fell ill with excessive fatigue. He was later diagnosed with having a hemorrhagic stroke after he sought medical attention at Tuen Mun Hospital on March 7.

The man was also suffering from chronic diseases including hypertension and hyperlipidemia, according to reports.

“An expert panel will look into the matter and its findings will be released in a timely manner,” a department spokesman said.

So far a total of about 113,500 persons have received the first dose of vaccination, including about 110,500 persons receiving the Sinovac vaccine and about 3,000 persons receiving the Comirnaty vaccine, according to government statistics.
