Heung Yuen Wai control point to reopen after pandemic stabilized

The government would consider reopening the Heung Yuen Wai control point and extending Shenzhen Pay port service time to 24 hours after the Covid-19 pandemic went under control, Secretary for Security Chris Tang Ping-keung said.

The Hong Kong Automobile Association on Sunday launched the "Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Car Parade" to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the city's handover.

Tang said at the event that the number of people traveling between Hong Kong and Guangdong was expected to surge under the development plan of the Greater Bay Area. The authorities will continue to enhance the clearance capacity of control points.

"After the pandemic stabilized, we will reopen the service of Liantang/Heung Yuen Wai promptly, and implement a 24-hour travel service at Shenzhen Bay Port to further facilitate people traveling between the two places."
