Curfew will continue on the weekends of July despite a slight drop in Rt

Citizen mobility restrictions in the provinces of Panama and Panama West will continue during the weekends of July due to the increase in new cases of the Covid-19 disease.

This was reported by the Ministry of Health (Minsa) in a statement indicating that they modified Resolution 492 of June 6, in which the curfew was established from Saturdays at 5:00 pm and until 5:00 am on Monday.

The circulation is by gender and ID number, same as before.

Health authorities reported that the effective reproductive number (Rt) of the epidemiological week from June 21 to 27 was 1.42 due to the speed at which the virus is spreading by community transmission in the Metropolitan health regions of San Miguelito and Panamá Oeste.

The Rt registered a slight decrease compared to the epidemiological week that runs from June 14 to 20, which marked 1.63.

The Rt is one of the epidemiological indicators that ideally is 1 or less than 1. The last week it was below 1 was in May. Meanwhile, the country reached 33,550 accumulated cases and 631 deaths.
