Covid patients in holding centres see fewer quarantine days

The government announced on Thursday to reduce the quarantine period of Covid patients in holding centres, and allow close contacts in residential care homes not to be transferred to quarantine centres.

Under the new arrangement, confirmed patients of Covid-19 who live in holding centres will be considered fit to be discharged if they have obtained negative results from rapid antigen tests on both the fourth and the fifth day (or any two consecutive days afterwards) during their isolation period. Nucleic acid tests will no longer be required.

The government also announced to convert the quarantine centres at Halls 11, 9 and 6 at AsiaWorld-Expo will be converted to holding centres starting from December 24, 27 and 28 respectively to receive elderly persons and persons with disabilities with Covid who are asymptomatic or showing mild symptoms.
