Chirican Mayors adopt new measures due to increased Covid-19 cases

Due to the increase in cases of the new coronavirus, the mayors of Tierras Altas, Boquete and Barú have implemented measures to slow the advance of the pandemic.

In Boquete, the mayor of that commune, Joswar Alvarado, imposed controls on the entry of people to this region during the weekend. Only residents are allowed to enter, to which they must go for work reasons.

This decision was adopted after meeting with local authorities, health and safety, since a large number of people had been detected doing internal tourism, when said block has not risen.

During Saturday, July 11, many vehicles were returned from the Caldera checkpoint.

Meanwhile, in the Tierras Altas district, Mayor Javier Pittí, by decree, prohibited the sale of alcoholic beverages during the weekend.

And in the Barú district, Mayor Marcos Beitía decreed a total quarantine over the weekend.

This measure was adopted by the large number of people with Covid-19. As of Saturday, epidemiological statistics reported that in Puerto Armuelles, Rodolfo Aguilar, Baco and Progreso totaled more than 400 cases.
