The current revenues of the central government fell by $ 881.5 million in the months of March, April and May, with respect to what had been budgeted, informed the Minister of Economy and Finance (MEF), Héctor Alexander, during an appearance in the Budget Commission of the National Assembly.
Alexander explained that this is due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. "And we will have this pattern (the fall in income) until December," he said.
According to the minister, if this amount is added to the original amount to be financed of $ 288.7 million, it can be said that, to date, the need for additional financing would be $ 1.18 billion.
During the months of January and February of this year, before the impact of Covid-19, the collection yielded "favorable results," he said. In those two months, the collection was 11.7% of the budget schedule.
In March, a collection of $ 719.9 million was scheduled, but the government only raised $411.9 million; for the month of April, the projected was $ 524.3 million, but managed $269.6 million; and for May the budgeted was $558.3 million, but closed with $ 239.6, a drop of 57.1%.
