Airport workers to undergo virus tests every week until August 7

Workers at Terminal 1, Apron or Midfield Concourse of the HK International Airport will have to undergo compulsory virus tests every week from July 18 to August 7, regardless of vaccination status.

For those who would work at these areas from July 18 to 24, the compulsory testing notice had been issued on July 12, with July 17 as the testing deadline.

Workers that had undergone tests between July 10 and 12 will be exempted.

For those working from July 25 to 31, the notice will be issued on July 19, with July 24 as the testing deadline.

For those working from August 1 to 7, the notice will be issued on July 26, with July 31 as the testing deadline.

The Centre for Health Protection explained that airport staff may have a higher risk of exposure to Covid-19 from outside Hong Kong, and encouraged workers to get the jabs.

The Centre added it will continue to monitor the infection control measures at the HKIA and enhancement measures will be implemented whenever necessary.
