Airport logistics worker expected to break HK's 33-day zero local infection streak

Hong Kong is expected to report an unknown local source Covid-19 infection in a logistics worker at the airport today, breaking the SAR's streak of "zero local cases" of 33 days.

The man, 50, yesterday tested preliminary positive of the highly contagious L452R mutant variant, which is commonly present in the Delta variant first discovered in India.

He mostly worked at the parking apron and last went to work yesterday.

The man lives on Kam Fung Street 1 to 3, Wong Tai Sin, which was under lockdown from yesterday evening to this morning to test 28 residents. None tested positive.

The Centre for Health Protection and the Hospital Authority will host at press briefing at 4.30pm today to provide latest updates in Hong Kong's Covid-19 situation.
