923 new COVID-19 cases and 10 deaths within 24 hours; over 100,000 tested in Panama

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) announced on Friday, June 19, that there are 923 new cases of the virus in 24 hours. According to the official report, the coronavirus has left a total of 485 dead in the country.

According to the official data, the total number of infected with the virus in the country is now 24,274, while 14,359 patients have recovered from the disease.

A total of ten new deaths were recorded over 24 hours. One of the new death cases was a woman at age 101. Nine of the death cases were men at age between 45 and 85. The total death rate from the virus is 2%.

There are currently 9,430 active cases.

Testing

2,833 new tests were conducted in since the last report. The number of total tests is now 102,703, of which 75,676 were negative.

Testing rate is reported to cover 2,400 per 100,000 population.

Treatment

8,056 patients are in home isolation and 748 are in so-called hospital hotels.

The Ministry of Health also reported that 503 are in the hospital ward and 123 in the intensive care units.

Cases by provinces: Panama 15,188, Panama Oeste 4,344, Veraguas 948, Colón 883, Chiriquí 811, Bocas del Toro 735, Darién 697, Guna Yala 250, Ngäbe Buglé 183, Coclé 188, Herrera 25 and Los Santos 22.
