The Ministry of Health (Minsa) announced on Sunday, June 21, that there are 808 new cases of the virus in 24 hours. According to the official report, the coronavirus has left a total of 501 dead in the country.
According to the official data, the total number of infected with the virus in the country is now 26,030, while 14,359 patients have recovered from the disease.
A total of eight new deaths were recorded over 24 hours. Two of the new death cases were women at age 63 and 72. Six of the death cases were men at age between 66 and 84. All with risk factors such as age, high blood pressure, heart failure, liver cirrhosis, smoking, among others.
Treatment
9,708 patients are in home isolation and 738 are in so-called hospital hotels.
The Ministry of Health also reported that 595 are in the hospital ward and 129 in the intensive care units.
Community Control and Traceability
On the other hand, the Minsa reported that this Sunday the Minister of Health, Rosario Turner, participated in a meeting at the Operation Center for Community Control and Traceability Covid-19, where she was informed of the progress of the action plan being carried out. carried out with the aim of increasing actions to detect early cases of the new coronavirus in the country.
This Operation Center, located in Ancón, is led by the Deputy Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre and the Deputy Minister of Public Security, Ivor Pittí, who jointly coordinate with the governors, mayors and representatives of 89 townships across the country, inter-institutional aid and the active search for people infected with Covid-19.
The Ministry explained that one of the actions of this Operations Center is to follow up on 4,345 people who are in home isolation.
It was also known that the National Institute of Mental Health of Panama (Insam) has received, between April 15 and June 16, 1,242 calls, through the telephone lines of "Support in Insam Mental Health" and the line 9-11. The total is broken down into 303 calls from men, 797 from women and 142 were unsuccessful calls.
The virus is deadly
This reality was recalled this Sunday by the Minsa, which in light of the "sustained increase in the last few weeks in the number of positive Covid-19 cases", made a new call for citizen awareness and responsibility to avoid saturation of the health system Panamanian.
In the statement it is stated that "it is important that the population understands that the virus is deadly and that all the actions undertaken by the National Government only seek to preserve the precious good of life, without having to reach scenarios similar to those that occurred in other countries in the region, ”where hospitals are at maximum capacity or have collapsed.
