540 new COVID-19 cases and 9 deaths within 24 hours

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) announced on Tuesday, June 16, that there are 540 new cases of the virus in 24 hours. According to the official report, the coronavirus has left a total of 457 dead in the country. Today marks 100 days since the pandemic started in Panama

In the last 24 hours, 85% of the cases infected with Covid-19 correspond to residents of the provinces of Panama and Panama West.

According to the official data, the total number of infected with the virus in the country is now 21,962, while 13,774 patients have recovered from the disease.

A total of nine new deaths were recorded over 24 hours. Five of the new death cases were women; between age 52 and 95. Four of the death cases were men at age between 57 and 83.

The virus mortality rate in Panama is 2.08%, out of known positive COVID-19 cases.

There are currently 7,731 active cases.

Testing

1,653 new tests were conducted in since the last report. The number of total tests is now 95,299, of which 70,633 were negative.

Testing rate is reported to cover 2,227 per 100,000 population.

Treatment

6,325 patients are in home isolation and 813 are in so-called hospital hotels.

The Ministry of Health also reported that 486 are in the hospital ward and 107 in the intensive care units.
