264 new cases bring COVID total to 11,447; most infections amongst younger population

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) announced on Tuesday afternoon, May 26, that there are 264 new cases of the virus in 24 hours. According to the official report, the coronavirus has left a total of 313 dead in the country.


According to the official data, the total number of infected with the virus in the country is now 11,447, while 6379 patients have recovered from the disease.

Testing

1,259 new tests were conducted in since the last report. The number of total tests is now 60,598, of which 47,020 were negative.

Testing rate is reported to cover 1,416 per 100,000 population.

Treatment

3,843 patients are in home isolation, of which 555 are in so-called hospital hotels.

The Ministry of Health also reported that 357 people are hospitalized; 285 of those in the ward and 72 in the intensive care units.

Cases by provinces: Panama 7,207, Panama West 2,155, Veraguas 587, Colón 425, Chiriquí 309, Guna Yala 231, Darién 204, Bocas del Toro 129, Coclé 86, Ngäbe Buglé 81, Los Santos 17 and Herrera 16.
