17 new COVID-19 deaths in 24 hours; total cases exceed 30,000

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) announced on Saturday, June 27, that there are 753 new cases of the virus in 24 hours. According to the official report, the coronavirus has left a total of 592 dead in the country.

According to the official data, the total number of infected with the virus in the country is now 30,658, while 15,370 patients have clinically recovered from the disease. There are currently 14,696 active cases.

Deaths

A total of 17 new deaths were recorded over 24 hours. Eight of the new death cases were women at age between 48 and 85. Nine of the death cases were men at age between 47 and 87 (breakdown of ages in image 4). Most death cases are age related, had diabetes or other cardio vascular conditions.

Testing

2,365 new tests were conducted in since the last report, of which 31.8% were positive. The number of total tests is now 122,668, of which 89,143 were negative.

Testing rate is reported to cover 2,867 per 100,000 population.

Treatment

13,116 patients are in home isolation and 712 are in so-called hospital hotels.

The Ministry of Health also reported that 727 are in the hospital ward and 141 in the intensive care units.

Meetings to discuss strategies

The Minsa also reported a coming meeting between the new Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre; the Minister Counsilor of Health; Eyra Ruíz and the director of the Social Security Fund (CSS), Enrique Lau Cortés, with the aim of analyzing and reinforcing the installed capacity of both institutions to face the pandemic.

The health authorities reiterated their efforts to maintain joint work in order to design and execute coordinated actions to fight the new coronavirus, detailed the Minsa statement.

In addition, the Deputy Minister of Health, Ivette Odalys Berrío and the Deputy Minister of Security, Ivor Pittí, met to discuss the follow-up to the Operational Plan of the Ministry of Security in the area of ​​the regions and their shelters.

This meeting occurs a day after Minister Sucre met with the head of Security, Juan Pino, in order to coordinate strategies to reinforce measures and establish the traceability of positive cases of this disease, adds the note from the Minsa.
