A pair of young couple were arrested on Friday after a video, in which a man kept beating the dog with a slipper, went viral on the internet and drew the attention of police.

Recently netizens have their attention on a video which shows that a man keeps beating a dog with a slipper, pressing the dog's neck with hard object and forcefully pulling the dog up. In the video the laughter of a woman who was holding the camera can be heard as well.
The incident also drew the attention of police, who soon initiated investigation and targeted the couple. On Friday morning officers arrested a 26-year-old man surnamed Chung and a 25-year-old woman surnamed Chan in Yuen Long for cruelty to animals.
Officers also found the dog that appeared in the video, which is now safe and sound. The dog will stay with staffers from Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals for the moment, pending further medical examination.
The two will be remanded in custody overnight, police added.
Officers said such crime will not be tolerated and pet owners should be highly aware of their responsibility.
