Xmas magic comes at peak price at Disney

People will have to pay more to visit Hong Kong Disneyland during Christmas as the theme park has added a new ticket type for the most popular days and seasons.

The new one-day "Peak Plus Days Ticket" will be set at HK$759 for adults and HK$569 for children aged three to 11.

The park will mark the "peak plus" days on the ticket calendar of its website and regularly update it on a three-month rolling basis, with the park saying the first "peak plus days" are expected to fall on the coming Christmas season.

"Multiple-tiered ticket pricing, a common practice throughout the attraction and theme park industry in Asia, not only gives guests flexibility in choosing when to visit, but also helps us deliver a better experience for all our guests," a spokesman for Hong Kong Disneyland Resort said.

"Along with other value-added ticket products such as the Magic Access program, this approach gives guests more ways to visit our parks," he added.

Current prices for the one-day ticket for peak days at HK$699 for adults and HK$524 for children, and one-day tickets for regular days at HK$639 for adults and HK$475 for children, will remain unchanged.

Elderly aged 65 or above pay HK$100 for any day including peak seasons, while people with disabilities can continue to get 30 percent off when purchasing the one-day ticket including on "peak plus" days.

But prices for the Magic Access annual pass goes up from today. A silver membership costs HK$1,348, up from HK$1,278, for adults and HK$998, instead of HK$950, for children or students.

A gold membership also goes up to HK$2,338, HK$110 more, for adults and HK$1,668, up from HK$1,588, for children or students.

A platinum membership costs HK$4,278, HK$280 more, for adults and HK$3,078, up from HK$2,878, for children or student. Prices for all senior Magic Access memberships remain unchanged.

The park said it will give special offers to existing Magic Access members and Hong Kong residents in the next eight weeks till November 16. Those whose membership expires on or before April 3 can get a 20 percent discount on the old prices when renewing or upgrading. But the early-renewal discount will not apply to renewals of silver memberships.

New members who are Hong Kong residents can buy the annual passes at old prices during the offer period and enjoy a 15 percent discount when they buy three or more annual passes.
