Woman hit in the head by concrete block in Sham Shui Po

A concrete block fell from a building in Sham Shui Po, injuring a female passerby and leading to the arrest of the chairwoman of the building's owners' corporation.


The incident took place around 9am on Kweilin Street in Sham Shui Po. A 58-year-old female pedestrian was walking along the street when a concrete block measuring approximately 0.5m x 0.5m fell from above and hit her.

Despite sustaining injuries to her head, she remained conscious after the incident. Police received a report regarding the incident at 9.06am and medics were soon dispatched to the scene. The woman was then admitted to Caritas Medical Centre.

After an initial investigation, police arrested a 79-year-old woman who is the chairwoman of the building's owners' corporation for allowing objects to fall from height.

The case is now being handled by the Sham Shui Po district criminal investigation department team six.
