Wartime bomb uncovered in Chai Wan

A suspected British-made wartime bomb has been uncovered near Lei Yue Mun Park and Holiday village today.

Officers from the explosive ordnance disposal bureau were called to the scene at noon, after a foreign man found the item inside Lei Yue Mun Park -- 450 meters away from a hillside of the resort on Chai Wan Road.

Officers defused the bomb -- 12 inches in length and 3 inches in diameter, at 3 pm after a three-hour effort.

No evacuation was required and no injuries were reported throughout the incident.
