A warning notice for maximum tides in the Panamanian Pacific was issued by the National Emergency Operations Center of the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc).
The notice of surveillance and monitoring is valid from 12:30 pm on Thursday, June 4 until 8:26 am on Tuesday, June 9, due to the record of maximum tides, which will be reaching 17.3 feet in height (5.27m).
The Sinaproc indicates that if the high tide coincides with the rains, the levels of the rivers and streams could increase, causing their rebound and causing flooding.
Faced with this situation, it calls on the coastal population and light boats to follow prevention measures, including:
- Keep an eye on children, the elderly and people with disabilities.
- If there is a risk of flooding, lower the lever of the electrical panel of the house and immediately evacuate to high and safe areas following the biosecurity measures before COVID19.
- In the event of a flood, remain calm and call emergency entities at the numbers: 520-4429, * 335 or 9-1-1.
- Light boats must use safety equipment for navigation and personal flotation devices (life jackets).
