Walkathon events return after 2-year hiatus

Community Chest’s Walk for Millions was held today at the Cross Bay Link in Tseung Kwan O.

This is the return of in-person Walk for Millions for the first time, after two years of being held virtually since the pandemic outbreak.

At 9am on Sunday, guests and team representatives of the walkathon gathered for the start ceremony, embracing the four-hours long walking event in Tseung Kwan O.

The walk starts near the junction of Po Yap Road and Po Shun Road in Tseung Kwan O, then proceeds along a new road leading to the TKO Interchange and further onto the Cross Bay Link Marine Viaduct.

Public members can set foot on the new landmark bridge, the first marine viaduct in Hong Kong with a carriageway, cycle track, and footpath, and raise funds for Family and Child Welfare Services supported by the Chest.

Walkers will take a return route to the starting point at a landscaped deck of the new road near Tong Yin Street.

The total distance is approximately 6 km, normally taking around 1.5 hours to complete.

Each participant is asked to raise HK$300 or above by appealing for sponsorship from friends and relatives. This year, the funds raised through the Walk programme will be designated to support 24 member agencies in providing “Family and Child Welfare Services”.
