A 26-year-old man stalked a 24-year-old woman back to her home at Tin Fu Court in Tin Shui Wai in the early hours of Monday, and was arrested for loitering on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the security footage, the black-clad man, surnamed Lau, let the woman enter the lift first. He waited in the hall to see which floor she stopped at, and then got into a lift to reach that floor.

The woman closed her door immediately when she got home. Through the anti-theft eye on the door, she saw that Lau kept staring at her door from the outside.

The woman later filed a report to police and said she was tailed by a man to her home in Tin Shui Wai. The case was then handled by Yuen Long district crime unit.

After investigation, officers mounted an operation and arrested 26-year-old Lau at a public housing unit in Tin Shui Wai for loitering on Tuesday afternoon. He is currently remanded for questioning.

Police stressed that officers will always look into cases related to sexual offenses in a serious manner and warned the public that the maximum penalty for a person convicted of loitering is two-year imprisonment.
