Under 2-year-old child dies after being bitten by a scorpion in Coclé

A minor under 2 years of age passed away after being bitten by a scorpion in the province of Coclé.

In the first instance, the minor was treated at the El Valle de Antón health center, where complications occurred and the child was transferred to the Aquiliono Tejeira de Penonomé Hospital.

The minor was given the four required ampoules of the anti-scorpion serum, but the complications persisted and two more ampoules were applied.

Later, the child was hospitalized under pediatric care, but presented cardiac arrhythmias, so a transfer was made to the Children's Hospital, but the child died before reaching this hospital.

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) investigates this incident.
