Two weeks territory-wide clean-up to launch ahead of July 1

Authorities will launch a two-week territory-wide clean-up operation in all districts, which strives to maintain a clean and hygienic environment to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the HKSAR as well as support the anti-epidemic work.

The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD), in collaboration with the Home Affairs Department (HAD), the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) and the Housing Department (HD), to jointly conduct the clean-up operation from June 17 to June 30, and appeals to members of the public for their participation and efforts in maintaining cleanliness in the household, the community and public places.

"During the operation period, the FEHD will implement a series of measures, including stepping up street cleaning and rodent prevention and control work; strengthening the cleaning of venues and facilities under its management, and enhancing cleaning work at illegal refuse dumping spots such as alleys, roadside grass areas and lawns, etc." a spokesman said.

The HAD will arrange the 18 district offices to carry out cleaning services at common areas of the old buildings and also co-ordinate with relevant departments to remove abandoned vehicles from the streets.

As well, the HD will conduct the cleaning operation in the public housing estates, and the LCSD will enhance cleaning and pest control work in parks and other recreation venues under its management.

FEHD said they will continue to take stringent enforcement actions and issue fixed penalty notices to offenders in breach of the public cleanliness and obstruction regulation.
