Two cars collided in North Point, three injured

A Tesla electric car and a private sedan collided this morning when both were travelling around the Island Eastern Corridor in the direction of Chai Wan in North Point.

Police received a report at around 7am that the driver and the passenger of the sedan, both surnamed Cheung and aged 38, were injured on their head, back, and limbs.

A 32-year-old non-local man in the Tesla was hurt in his chest and back. The three were sent to the Eastern Hospital for treatment.

Police suspected the cause of the accident was drunk driving and asked the three non-local men in the Tesla to conduct screening breath tests.

However, none of them admitted to being the driver, and a 33-year-old man refused to do the test. Meanwhile, the injured man was found to have no driving license, and another 26-year-old man's test result showed a high alcohol level.

The trio were then arrested and detained for further investigation with accusations of failure to provide specimens of breath for screening breath test, driving without a license, and drunk driving.
