Twenty five customers at unlicensed bar fined

Police have cracked down an unlicensed bar in Yuen Long, arresting three in charge and fining 25 customers.

The police raided a unit on Tin Sum Road yesterday at about 9pm. Three people in charge were arrested and 25 customers were issued with fixed penalty tickets.

Those in charge, a man aged 53 and two women aged 45 and 48, were arrested for allegedly selling liquor without a license, possessing liquor for hawking without a license and violating social distancing measures.

They were detained for investigation.

In addition, 23 men and two women aged 38 to 63 were fined for drinking at the unlicensed premise and breaching social distancing rules by joining a gathering of more than four people.

During the operation, the police seized 970 beers, audio-visual equipment and bar equipment, with a total value of approximately HK$50,000.

The police reminded the public to take care of themselves and others by strictly complying with health regulations to help control the pandemic and reduce the risk of spreading the virus in the community.
