Treasury chief comes flat out on top

Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Christopher Hui Ching-yu and his family own seven properties, the most among 21 principal officials.

In the first declarations of interests by officials and Executive Council members made public yesterday, the heads of housing Winnie Ho Wing-yin, IT and Industry Sun Dong and health Lo Chung-mau each own four properties.

Cultural chief Kevin Yeung Yun-hung is the only principal official who does not own any.

Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu and his wife own a flat and a car-park space in Yau Tsim Mong.

Chief Secretary Eric Chan Kwok-ki and wife own a self-occupied flat in Sha Tin and two others for rent in Wong Tai Sin and Eastern.

Justice chief Paul Lam Ting-kwok and family own one each in Eastern, Tsuen Wan and Wan Chai.

Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po said his family owns a residential unit and two car-park spaces in Wan Chai for leasing. His wife also owns a property in Zhongshan for self-use.

Three of the Hui family properties are in Australia, Hangzhou and Singapore and are self-occupied.

Lo and his wife own a flat in the United Kingdom that is vacant.

Sun owns a residential unit jointly with his spouse in Beijing.

Ho owns a property in Singapore that should be handed over by the end of 2025. On Wednesday, she was said to have recently removed an unauthorized canopy over a parking lot in one of her properties in Mid-Levels - 14 years after the Buildings Department issued a removal order.

Arthur Li Kwok-cheung owns over 40 properties, the most among the non-official Exco members.

Heung Yee Kuk head Kenneth Lau Ip-keung owns 456 plots in the New Territories and seven Tuen Mun residences for self-use.
