At least 48 officials from the Public Ministry and the Judicial Branch are infected with coronavirus.
According to reports from the Public Ministry (MP), there are 21 sick officials, including primary care personnel up to a higher prosecutor.
The cases were reported in the headquarters of San Miguelito, Central Panama and Darién. According to a statement from the institution, 15 employees remain isolated in their residences, in stable condition, while 6 have already been discharged.
The authorities of the MP assured that after registering the positive cases in the work areas, they proceeded to disinfect these environments and implemented isolation measures for the officials and their contacts, the latter in coordination with the health authorities.
On the other hand, 27 infections have been reported in the Judicial Branch, the last of these detected on June 17 in the Seventeenth Criminal Court, in which work was suspended from that day until June 19. The rest of the sick officials work in Plaza Ágora, headquarters of the First Judicial Circuit for the accusatory criminal system; the First Criminal Court; in the Treasury and Human Resources departments; among other offices.
The Judicial Branch reported that after these cases were detected, they sent all the personnel of the offices involved to isolation for 14 days and disinfected the spaces.
