The prosecution requests a psychiatric evaluation of Ricardo Martinelli

The Special Anti-corruption Prosecutor's Office in the Odebrecht case requested on Monday, July 13, the Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences (Imelcf) to carry out a psychiatric evaluation of Ricardo Martinelli, after the former president presented medical incapacity for 60 days.

It is not the first time that the prosecution requests this forensic examination. In fact, it had been scheduled to take place last Friday, July 10, but one day, the former president presented the said disability, issued by the private psychiatrist Alvis Torres, and which is valid until September 6.

The Public Ministry reported in a statement that it also requested the clinical file of the exmandatario in the medical center that generated the latest disability, which will also be the subject of the evaluation to be carried out by the Imelcf.

So far in July, Martinelli has presented three certificates of incapacity, at a time when he has been required to investigate two investigations - Odebrecht and New Business - for alleged money laundering, through the payment of bribes to contractors of the State.

The first two medical disability certifications were issued by the cardiologist Gabriel Frago. The first was presented on July 2, when he was going to be questioned in the investigation for the purchase of Grupo Epasa, allegedly with public funds (New Business case). Immediately afterwards, Frago extended said incapacity until July 10, which is why Martinelli did not appear for an investigation by Odebrecht on July 3.

The current disability, in force for 60 days, the diagnosis of which is unknown, was issued by the politician and psychiatrist Algis Torres, from the Cristo Rey Hospital Clinic .
